This entry is being used for tracking a regression from 2.6.38. Please don't
close it until the problem is fixed in the mainline.

I believe that this issue and issue #33342 are fundamentally related.

I just tried 2.6.39-rc5 and I see none of these problems.   (The problems still existed in 2.6.39-rc4, so this got fixed between 2.6.39-rc4 and 2.6.39-rc5.)
