In what way is this not reproducible !KMS. The error looks like a gamma issue (bad coloration near zero). I noticed this issue when I tried KMS first time (I guess it was 2.6.32, but I'm not sure). I switched to KMS using the same kernel version and the same userspace. Now it's quite hard to try X.org with KMS disabled, because the intel driver no longer supports no-KMS kernels. However, here is another example - viewing the same image via vesafb: no blue blobs. Created attachment 53602 [details]

BTW, this issue is not reproducible on external LCD connected via DisplayPort. You are right about gamma. `xgamma -gamma 0.8` makes the blue blobs disappear. Does this still happen in current kernels? Or did you fix it by changing your default gamma? I can not test this with current kernels since I replaced the LCD. Previous LCD: AUO B121EW03 V.6 Current LCD: Samsung LTN121AP02-001. This issue is not reproducible with the new LCD. Closing as unreproducible - the test setup doesn't exist any more. |
Created attachment 52842 [details] photo demonstrating the issue LCD displays garbage (blue blobs) in dark areas of images. See the attached original image and the photo demonstrating the issue. Notes: 1. Not reproducible when KMS is disabled 2. Not related to X-system, I can reproduce this issue via framebuffer 3. Not 2.6.36-specific, I can reproduce this issue with all previous versions with KMS enabled Machine: Lenovo ThinkPad X200 Video processors: Intel GMA 4500MHD LCD panel: AUO B121EW03 V.6
