Today compiled newest 2.6.38.1 (the same hardware and distribution) - the problem is still here. Is this still an issue with newer kernels? If so, can you bisect? |
Created attachment 51372 [details] Fragment of startup messages Any attempt to boot the system with kernel version 2.6.37 (but I've checked, that the problem does occur in earliers 2.6.36.x too) results in total hangup of the system; it's impossible even to escape with "magic sysrq" - only hardware reset button helps. The picture becomes distorted then; a short horizontal dashes are forming kind of broad vertical stripes. There wasn't such problem using earlier 2.6.34 kernel. It's still possible to boot such flawed 2.6.37, but only with boot parameter "radeon.modeset=0". Switched the output to serial console to log some more info - and you'll find it in attachment.
