Description Steffen Schwientek 2004-08-01 13:22:03 UTC
Distribution:gentoo
Hardware Environment:thinkpad T22
Software Environment:alsa
Problem Description:

I can easily put the system to suspend with echo 3>/proc/acpi/sleep.
The system wakes up, if I press the power button, but after that the sound is
missing.
If an application was playing, the application crashes also.

Could you please try latest ACPI bk tree? it includes a pci_link device
suspend/resume code. I guess it will help you.
Comment 2 Steffen Schwientek 2004-08-13 10:25:39 UTC
Patched kernel 2.6.7 kernel with acpi-20040715-2.6.7.diff (which is latest on
the kernel ftp-server):

+ system wakes up with the "fn" key instead of the powerbutton

- resume doesn

Could you please send me the boot dmesg and crached dmesg? thanks.
Comment 4 Len Brown 2004-11-16 22:51:35 UTC
same with 2.6.9 kernel?
Comment 5 Steffen Schwientek 2004-11-17 16:14:14 UTC
Unfortunately the problem is still in 2.6.9.

dmesg tells:

Comment 8 Shaohua 2005-08-23 00:35:25 UTC
Could we have a update with latest kernel in this system?
Comment 9 Steffen Schwientek 2005-09-23 04:37:43 UTC
Sound still does't work on latest stable release. dmesg release cycle:

Comment 10 Len Brown 2006-08-09 20:33:57 UTC
With a recent kernel, do you still get an MCE?
Does sound still fail?
Please paste the output of lscpi to identify the sound device.
output from dmesg -s64000 after the resume may help too.

Please reopen this bug if:
- it is still present in kernel 2.6.17 and
- you can provide the requested information.
