ACPI error log
New BIOs Update available Hi there first; this bug is registred for HP ZBOOK 15 G4 (bios version P71) with wondows 10 pro pre-installed. but I have to turn my machine into Linux. I had the same ACPI BIOS error (bug). it is about installing Ubuntu 2004LTS, but my machine won't start with live usb, after ACPI error the machine is stopping respanding ( like in ubuntu) but it shut down with the others linux distrubutions ( CEAlinux 2018, MX-linux 19, pop_os, linux mint) no way to start with any linux distrubtion. but afet I put acpi=off in the grub.cfg file the machine started, but the os see only one cpu core (the cpu is i7-770HQ) and the laptop couldn't shut down. I hope you can help me fixing this problem. thank you I'm seeing this problem on a Dell T1700 workstation running Fedora 33: [ +0.000758] ACPI: Waking up from system sleep state S3 [ +0.001051] pcieport 0000:00:1c.4: Enabling MPC IRBNCE [ +0.000004] pcieport 0000:00:1c.4: Intel PCH root port ACS workaround enabled [ +0.011359] pcieport 0000:00:1c.0: Enabling MPC IRBNCE [ +0.000003] pcieport 0000:00:1c.0: Intel PCH root port ACS workaround enabled [ +0.000041] pcieport 0000:00:1c.2: Enabling MPC IRBNCE [ +0.000003] pcieport 0000:00:1c.2: Intel PCH root port ACS workaround enabled [ +0.025989] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): AE_AML_BUFFER_LIMIT, Field [DRQL] at bit offset/length 136/8 exceeds size of target Buffer (128 bits) (20200925/dsopcode-198) [ +0.000005] ACPI Error: Aborting method \_SB.PCI0.LPCB.SIO1.DSRS due to previous error (AE_AML_BUFFER_LIMIT) (20200925/psparse-529) [ +0.000004] ACPI Error: Aborting method \_SB.PCI0.LPCB.UAR1._SRS due to previous error (AE_AML_BUFFER_LIMIT) (20200925/psparse-529) [ +0.000005] serial 00:06: activation failed [ +0.000005] PM: dpm_run_callback(): pnp_bus_resume+0x0/0x90 returns -5 [ +0.000001] PM: Device 00:06 failed to resume: error -5 I'm running the 5.10 kernel: 5.10.19-200.fc33.x86_64, T1700 is running latest firmware (A28).
