kernel panic and other outputs

Hi everyone,

in my company we have been using "AMI Firmware Update Utility" in many different versions for many years.

Recently while upgrading from Kernel 4.19.4 to 4.19.7 I noticed, that some of these tools are no longer working and are producing a Kernel panic instead. These tools itself are afaik EOL, but were working fine until recent Kernel patches.

The issue is still present in Kernel 4.19.14.

Actual Results: program crashes and causes a Kernel panic (see attachment)

Expected Results: program would (re-)flash the BIOS

I will gladly provide more information if required. I can also provide access to a test environment if needed. If anyone could maybe help to find out, which part of the Linux kernel might be causing this, I will also gladly re-file the bug to the correct maintainer.

Thanks for any help.

Cheers
Tommy
