Description Dan 2018-04-16 05:35:40 UTC
Hi, am no expert so cannot be more detailed...I love night light (GNOME 3.28/Redshift), am on AMDA9 with Radeon R2 on Ubuntu 18.04 and just reverted back to Kernel 4.14.34 bec with 4.16+ night light flickers when using mouse, but no replicable "system" or cause ... just when moving mouse it often flickers ... not sure if this is already in 4.15, jumped that when moving to Ubuntu 18.04... I have no idea how I can fix this, and by testing it is all fine even with GNOME 3.28 with kernel 4.14.34, also never had issue on this laptop before... some report this problem when using more than one screen, but I have this issue on my one (and only) laptop screen, not having testing dual screen yet

Help pls

THx
Dan

Thx a million...

as a newbie, sorry for the question: How can I know what the next kernel
version with this amended will be?

4.16.2 still has this problem for me?

Thx a million

It's in 4.17 and should show up in 4.16 via stable updates over the next few weeks.

I still see flickering every so often (maybe once every 20-30 minutes or so) on kernel 4.16.5.
Comment 6 Dan 2018-04-27 14:19:10 UTC
works fine for me on .17rc

I am now running 4.17 (stable), and flickering is far less than it was on any version of 4.16, but it still happens on occasion.

Created attachment 276427 [details]
dmesg screen flickering

I'm also experiencing random screen flickering

Laptop: dell 11 3000

CPU: A6 9220e, GPU: Radeon R4

RAM: 4GB

Fedora28 workstation, wayland + gnome3, night light on

driver: amdgpu

kernel: 4.16.14

I already have amdgpu.dc=0 in my kernel parameter, yet I’m still experiencing random screen flickering.
