by "shuts down brutally", do you mean that the power suddenly goes out as if AC and DC are abruptly removed from the system? This failure goes away when the acpi battery driver is excluded from the system? what is the most recent kernel that runs properly on this hardware today? please attach the output from acpidump and include the complete dmesg from a boot with the battery driver present. Never mind, I've just got the problem without the battery driver either, and without battery plugged in (which so far was the ultimate solution). I'm convinced now this is my power supply / mother board that's too old now, and that my laptop is dying. Sad for me but not a bug... Closing the bug therefore. |
