Here the workaround to have sound working everytime, just edit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and add: "options snd-hda-intel model=6stack-dig single_cmd=1" Just a workaround (no bugfix) as using single_cmd=1 signs a big problem but as the module fallback in single mode anyway... There are at least 21 people at the ubuntu bug tracker[1] who are affected by this bug and it still is present in 2.6.39 under Debian. Is there anyone working on this bug? Any progress at all? 1: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/536699 I'm also receiving a "spurious response" message, though I haven't had trouble with my sound. It appears in tty1 when I boot, generally after the login prompt appears but before I stop typing. The message: hda-intel: spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x5f0700 hda-intel: spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x5f0700 hda-intel: spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x5f0700 hda-intel: spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x5f0700 hda-intel: spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x5f0700 hda-intel: spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x5f0700 hda-intel: spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x5f0700 hda-intel: spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x5f0700 hda-intel: spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x5f0700 hda-intel: spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x5f0700 hda-intel: spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x5f0700 hda-intel: spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x5f0700 hda-intel: spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x5f0700 hda-intel: spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x5f0700 [...] Kernel version: robert ~ $ uname -r 3.3.6-1-ARCH This problem is still occurring for me as of 3.4.7. See my previous comment here: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18512#c3 Does the problem still happen with the latest kernel (3.12)? If so, please give alsa-info.sh output. Run it with --no-upload option, and attach the output to the bugzilla (don't paste). Note that there can be multiple reasons of this error although the end result looks similar. The symptom implies only that the codec communication stalls, thus it can happen in different ways. So, don't rush with annoying "me too" messages. This bug is exclusively for ALC662 codec. |
