Same machine and same error here on kernel 2.6.34.1. Please see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/568611/ seems installed the kernel and it has fixed the problems Stephen, could you please tell me which patch fixes the bug for you? I guess the problem still exists in the latest kernel, right? please attach the acpidump output of your laptop. Andreas, does the fix work for you as well? I applied the patches to the openSUSE 2.6.34 kernel and it fixed the problem. But the brightness control FN keys refused to work in KDE 4.5 although the battery applet brightness control slider worked fine. I upgraded to 2.6.35 kernel from Takashi Iwai's buildservice repo to take advantage of his ClickPad patches and the brightness control worked out of the box, even the FN keys in KDE 4.5: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/tiwai:/clickpad:/openSUSE_Factory/openSUSE_Factory/ So either this was fixed upstream in 2.6.35 or there was some patchset applied to this kernel in buildservice. Can someone confirm? PS: The adapted patch from the Ubuntu bug report for openSUSE 2.6.34 kernel: http://www.andreas-demmer.de/downloads/patches/kernel_i915_backlight_controls.diff The patch for xf86-video-intel i915 driver: http://www.andreas-demmer.de/downloads/patches/xf86-video-intel_i915_backlight_controls.diff ATTENTION: With Takashi Iwai's 2.6.35 kernel, the intel patch is not needed! |
