Description Luya Tshimbalanga 2016-07-31 16:58:29 UTC
Recent ASUS laptops using ATKACPI have their hotkeys misbehaving or not functioning at all impacting all kernel version. Affected models are G752, G752VT, X550ZE, Q500A and there can be more. It will be nice to consolidate all bug reports to easily help reporters testing the fix.

Not sure if bug 119391 is really related to this, I just mentioned this in bug 119391 because it could be related to a missing thing in the asus-wmi driver.
Creating another bug to track two bugs that duplicate each other seems unnecessary.

Anyway, let's see what we can do here :-)

That was the initial thought about duplicated report. However, the model of laptops are different so the intention is to gather affected ASUS laptops to easily sort them in the process.

I am adding Corentin Chary, the author of asus-nb-wmi. He may have more details about fixing hotkeys issue although he lacks access to modern Asus laptops.

Hello,
Sorry for the late reply. Could you test the latest stable kernel to see if that works?

Hi,
a friend of mine has this same issue with its new ASUS ROG GM501GS. Using Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS with kernel 4.15.0-29-generic. It was also affecting ArchLinux with kernel 4.17.xx.

Should I open a new bug?

Thank you.
