My kernel config
I tested it on 2.6.32 rc-4... nothing changed, loading kvm-intel hangs system. Next observation: CPU after loading module kvm-intel (and hanging system) is working hard. CPU fan starts to work faster. Problem is related with toshiba_acpi module. I found information on this forum: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virtualbox-ose/+bug/347487 I tried to move the bug to ACPI. I can't do that (no privileges to do that). Maybe somebody can do that. Changed priority to normal - kvm works. When I unload toshiba_acpi and than load kvm-intel, everything works fine. It is possible to load toshiba_acpi with kvm-intel loaded without any problems. For the moment I use a script with unload toshiba_acpi load kvm-intel and again load toshiba_acpi. Moving to ACPI - is this still relevant or should I close it I already changed the computer where the problem could be observed to a new one. Maybe I have to run my old laptop, install a new kernel there and check if the issue is still there. On the new laptop I don't observe any problem with suspending computer with kvm-intel module loaded. I can even suspend my laptop with running virtual machines. But this is other computer with 64-bit Linux. It's sufficiently old that if you don't know I wouldn't worry - chances are its a long fixed bug |
Created attachment 23204 [details] lspci -v System hangs after loading kvm-intel module. Module kvm loads normally. KVM works fine in 2.6.28.6. System actually hangs ~0.5 second after loading kvm-intel (bash prompt apears - modprobe proces is done). I tried in single user mode with or without kvm module loaded, kvm-intel always hangs system. SysReq keys don't work. I tried to wait > 5 min. - it doesn't look like some "time-out" problem. computer: Toshiba Tecra M5 (I attach lspci output).
