Notify-Also : Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> I think that it's a same bug as https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=485734. This bug was probably resolved by some alsa patches in fedora kernel. So, I think that these patches must be in vanilla kernel There is no fundamental change regarding the PCM pointer update mechanism between 2.6.28 and 29. Are you sure that this is only kernel update, not PA update? Closing dead bug with no responses |
Hello! I ound that after upgrading of my kernel to 2.6.29, pulseaudio stopped with this error: E: alsa-util.c: snd_pcm_avail_update() returned a value that is exceptionally large: 18446744073709551552 bytes (384307168201 ms) Most likely this is an ALSA driver bug. Please report this issue to the PulseAudio developers. I reported to pulseaudio devs and they answer me that this is a kernel bug. I use alsa-{lib,utils}-1.0.19 in Gentoo (amd64) and my sound card is ALC1200 (Asus P5QC mobo)
