Description Nikita Krupenko 2016-11-27 19:42:13 UTC
I have an Acer Aspire V5-552G laptop with the AMD A8-5557M APU (Radeon HD 8550G) and discrete videocard Radeon HD 8750M.

My system installed into encrypted LVM (no separate /boot) and root filesystem is btrfs (I mount it with subvol=@). EFI boot, using grub2-efi.

It works fine in 4.4 kernel, but when I installed kernels 4.6 and newer it doesn't boot: when I select the kernel in the grub and press Enter, it just hangs (I see no text, just blank screen). May be 4.5 is working, but I haven't tested it.

I use Mageia Cauldron distro, but I also tested with the live images of Fedora and Kubuntu (both has kernel 4.8) and they don't boot too. I also checked on openSUSE installation media with the 4.4 kernel and installer starts fine.

Also happens on 4.9.

With kernel 4.9.9 and later I can't reproduce this bug.
