i have added it /etc/default/grub as follows:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="nointremap quiet amdgpu.audio=0"

and then ran update-grub

however it still takes more than 5 minutes to boot

Milo, try to set amdgpu.audio=0 to the kernel command line.
