Latest working kernel version: 2.6.24 rc3 Earliest failing kernel version: 2.6.24 rc4 Distribution: crux Backlightcontrol doesn't work anymore. FN+ My Laptop is a Acer Extensa 5220. Other people with the same Laptop have the same problem (not distribution specific). I also heard about this problem with Thinkpad x61s . Both have an intel X3100 graphics chip.

Hi, Hannes Will you please try the patch in comment #8 of bug 9627 and see whether backlingt can work ? (Please test it on the 2.6.24-rc4 kernel ). Please attach the output of dmesg. It will be great if you can enable the ACPI debug in kernel configuration and add the boot option of "acpi.debug_layer=0x08010004 acpi.debug_level=0x1f".(Had better apply the patch from comment 28 bug 9642). thanks.
