HI! I use Kubuntu edgy with new kernel (2.6.20-9 from feisty repository) on my
HP COMPAQ DC7600. When i click poweroff on my KDE menu, my computer hangs with
black screen or with switched off monitor. BUT when i press power button,
computer shutdown normal. This appears only with HP COMPAQ computers (I tried on
several models).

Sorry for my English!

since the power button works, it seems that ACPI
and the kerenl are working fine, and perhaps
this is an X problem with the distro.

Do the various software methods of shutting down work?
eg. "init 0" and the halt(8) family of commands?
