Most recent kernel where this bug did not occur: Unknown Distribution: Fedora Core 3 and Ubuntu (Breezy Badger) Hardware Environment: Sony PCG-GR315MP, D-Link DWL-G650M wireless network card, Software Environment: Linux Problem Description: Inserted PCMCIA card into laptop, DMESG reports cs : socket<n> : Unable to apply power. The laptop uses a Rioch R/RL/(5C476II) or compatible CARDBUS Controller (this text copied from device properties in Windows XP). Have attempted to use NDISWRAPPER and MADWIFI, but cannot get power to socket. Steps to reproduce: Always present when inserting wireless network card
Could you try with an updated kernel (newer version from distributon or home-built), please? We've solved a lot of these problems in the past; alternatively look out for the workaround at http://kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/kernel/pcmcia/powerbugs.html#2 (yes, even though that is about "unable to remove power").
Please find below full printouts from dmesg, /proc/iomem and lspci -vv As can be seen, no memory holes are present (not that I can detect, with limited linux knowledge). Therefore the bug fix for power removal is not relevant. Will attempt newer kernel verios if can work out how to do it.
