Description Maurice Volaski 2006-04-27 12:58:01 UTC
CONFIG_KMOD determines whether modules can load automatically.

The default configuration for i386 (and other architectures) has it set to Y for
yes but for x86_64 is not set.

I cannot think of any obvious reason why x86_64 would be off. I think it's a typo.

arch/x86_64/defconfig is my configuration and I don't like it. -> WILL_NOT_FIX
Comment 2 Arthur Othieno 2006-05-03 01:08:20 UTC
CONFIG_KMOD is not set in i386 defconfig either.

Andi, given your position on this one, care to close as WILL_NOT_FIX?
Comment 3 Maurice Volaski 2006-05-03 09:49:44 UTC
"Will not fix" without a good, valid reason will get it reopened with a request
to have it reassigned.

"CONFIG_KMOD is not set in i386 defconfig either"

Why was this changed? Should I open a bug report on this too?
Comment 4 Roman Zippel 2006-06-20 07:32:56 UTC
This is a per architecture decision, please ask the respective maintainer.
Comment 5 Maurice Volaski 2006-06-20 08:14:29 UTC
Reopened as promised.
Comment 6 Roman Zippel 2006-06-20 08:37:12 UTC
Stop this! This will get you nowhere...
Comment 7 Arthur Othieno 2006-06-20 08:54:50 UTC
Andi has already NAKed this.

If you _really_ feel the urge to re-open this, then please do as a
platform-specific bug instead. Thanks.
