Description leonie herzberg 2006-04-07 11:11:36 UTC
Most recent kernel where this bug did not occur: I have this problem with linux
>=2.6.16-rc3. The changelog tells that something was changed concerning alpha
(cpu_possible_map).

Distribution: Gentoo

Hardware Environment: two EV6 CPUs; 4GB RAM.

Software Environment: Usual Gentoo.

Problem Description:
http://olga.net4u.de/oops.jpg - This is a bit hard readable. I think this is the
panic 2.6.16.1 had.
It says
unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address blah
pc is at sysfs_create_group-something
ra is at topology_cpu_callback-something
[...]
kernel panic - attempted to kill init.

Steps to reproduce:
Compile 2.6.16-rc3 or any newer kernel. Boot that kernel. There you are.

Hello, I just wanted to say that I have the same problem on my Alpha-box (4x375MHz EV56, 1Gig of Memory). Environment: gnuffy-alpha with linux-2.6.15.4 is running on it. Tried kernels: 2.6.16-rc3, 2.6.16, 2.6.17-rc1 Error: The same error Leonie Herzberg has. Greetings, Mario
