Summary: Kernel don't recognize two devices of the CD/DVD conected on mother board GA-8i955X-PRO (ICH7R) Description: I install a DVDRAM GSA-4167B in master channel and a CD-R/RW GCE-8240B in slave channel both onto same cable IDE0. But the kernel only recognize the DVD device whith scd0 or vice-versa both never. The system BIOS recognize both the devices correctly. /proc/version Linux version 2.6.16-1.2080_FC5 (bhcompile@hs20-bc1-4.build.redhat.com) (gcc version 4.1.0 20060304 (Red Hat 4.1.0-3)) #1 SMP Tue I see IDE_SCSI is being loaded.. Are you using it? (i.e. hdc=ide-scsi hdd=ide-scsi on boot line) If not, have you considered unloading IDE_SCSI from the kernel? I have absolutely no reason to believe this is causing your problem or will fix it... But I think that additional information will help whoever gets the solution for you. -Rob
Thanks Rob, The problem is that RAID BIOS options where activeds. I don't know that this options were the reason of problem until I match the BIOS options with another GA mother-board that not have a RAID options and both CD work fine. Then, I turn off all options about RAID in BIOS and the CD and DVD drivers begin work. Volnei
