Most recent kernel where this bug did not occur: 2.6.14.4 Distribution: Debian Hardware Environment: see lspci output Software Environment: Problem Description: Using OSS sound for Intel ICH4 AC'97 causes suspend-to-disk to hang. Steps to reproduce: I'm unsure if you actually need the soundcard. I did a make oldconfig of my 2.6.14.4 kernel in order to build a 2.6.15 kernel. Running that new kernel, swsusp fails. Trying 2.6.16-rc1 gives same result. Leaving out the OSS driver for the soundcard, or building it as module, has the swsusp working fine. I suspend with the following command: echo "disk" > /sys/power/state Bug only applies when drivers are compiled into the kernel. Compiled as modules, swsusp works just fine. The following lines are the last bits of output before the hangup: ========================================================================== PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:1d.2 to 64 The OSS drivers are unmaintained, you'll have to use the ALSA driver.
You can also do a "git bisect" (search LKML archives) to identify the change that broke it - it's still bad to have a regression, even in a deprecated driver.
It would be nice to reproduce with ALSA and/or get that bisection.
