Most recent kernel where this bug did not occur: Distribution: Debian GNU/Linux Sarge Hardware Environment: Acer TravelMate 2403NWXMi, bios ver.: 2.10 Software Environment: Problem Description: During boot with acpi enabled kernel hangs very early. earlyprintk=vga shows the error Kernel Panic: IOAPIC[1]: Unable to change apic_id! When booting with "acpi=off" everything including touchpad works ok (except acpi of course) When booting with "acpi=noirq pci=noacpi, usepirqmask, routeirq" acpi works but touchpad doesn't Additional info (dmesg, dmidecode, acpidump, kernel config etc) are here http://www.republika.pl/cyryl3/debug/debug_20051210.tar.bz2 Steps to reproduce: Boot kernel without acpi=off
Has any ACPI-enabled IOAPIC kernel ever booted on this system? Still an issue with 2.6.17.stable? Please verify that an ACPI kernel works fine if booted with "noapic"
Yesterday i got access to that notebook again. It seems that 2.6.17.8 works like a charm even with apic and ioapic enabled.
