Steps to reproduce: Randomly
Comment 1 Pawel Staszewski 2005-11-18 07:17:20 UTC
I have the same problem on
Gentoo linux with kernel 2.6.15-rc1
Machine is: P4 3.2GHz HT enabled
2x e1000 cards

KERNEL: assertion (!sk->sk_forward_alloc) failed at net/core/stream.c (279)
KERNEL: assertion (!sk->sk_forward_alloc) failed at net/ipv4/af_inet.c (148)
Comment 2 Stephen Hemminger 2005-12-14 16:10:57 UTC
Are you running jumbo frames (ie MTU > 1500)?
Comment 3 Jesse Brandeburg 2005-12-14 16:49:50 UTC
please include the information requested by REPORTING-BUGS at the base of the
kernel tree.

your .config, machine, e1000 information from lspci -vvv dmesg would all be
helpful. A reproduction case also would help.

Get the same assertions but no page allocation failure after that.

I'm having a similar problem with kernel 2.6.14.2. I've recently upgraded one of
my boxes to 2.6.15 and it's still happening. I get the kernel assertion messages
but no page allocation failures. Unlike Sebastian and Geno my boxes are using
the TG3 driver for a Broadcom adapter.
