Description Andrea 2005-10-28 16:33:28 UTC
Most recent kernel where this bug did not occur: 2.6.14

Distribution: Debian Testing

Hardware Environment: SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 (emu10k1)

Problem Description: With the new kernel (compiled today) I'm not able to play
any multichannels audio, like, for example, the game UT2004 (no sound at all)
and an Xvid in ac3 (still no sound, absolutely nothing). The error thah xine
gives me is (traslating from italian ones) "your soundcard seems locked by
another process" (or something similar...)
With 2.6.13.4 everything seems running well...

Steps to reproduce: Compile alsa module (snd-emu10k1 and linked) and play
anything in multichannels format

Try following the trouble shooting section on http://alsa.opensrc.org/
Comment 3 Andrew Clayton 2006-02-04 05:19:09 UTC
I had a similar problem http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5217

Upgrading my alsa-libs fixed it.

Cheers,

Andrew
