Distribution: can't get any framebuffer or console, could not exec init :-( Hardware Environment: ARM StrongArm 1110 206Mhz without flashboard. Software Environment: Latest kernel working was a 2.4.18-rmk3-hh10 + patch: http://people.debian.org/~dexter/j720/kernel/epson1356fb.c.patch Problem Description: WinCE boots (its into a ro memory) but with linexec (linux loader) the handheld, loading a kernel 2.6.11-hh0, freezes. Steps to reproduce: just load a 2.6.x-hh0 kernel: http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/Linux26ToolsAndSources with linexec (and probably with other loaders) and the machine will freeze.
This issue is been discussed in linux-jornada email list: jornada@handhelds.org there are a 2.4 kernel working nice: linux-2.4.19-rmk6-pxa1-hh3-j720-3 The 2.6.x-hh jornada mantainer (w/ flashboard) says the problem can be at the kernel entry point or somewhere near that. Or maybe with the loader...
Michael Gernoth is mantaining a patch set that makes the latest 2.4 kernel works nice: http://wwwcip.informatik.uni-erlangen.de/~simigern/jornada-7xx/
I don't have this hardware... and I don't know who is supposed to be responsible for this hardware in 2.6... ok to reject this bug? (This bugzilla is for mainline kernels.)
for me its ok to reject this bug.
kernel boots and lots of things are working.
