Description senhor_unix 2009-09-26 19:28:46 UTC
It is not only the Debian that it automatically does not initiate because of bug in the BIOS, the Ubuntu and the Linux Kurumin NG also. Some notebooks of Intelbras and HP the same has problem of incompatibility in relation to the Linux. I have one notebook of the Intelbras model i21. All time that I initiated the Debian 5,0 Lenny appeared the following message:

PCI: acpi interrupt

I perceived so that this error was ignored, would have that to edit the system pressing " e" in the Kernel line, below of the line root (hd 0,0), typing the following command:

noapic=off acpi=off nozh=off

Later I left the screen of kernel that he was on of root (0,0) and pressed " b" to initiate the system. In such a way the Debian initiated without message of error and interruption. To solve this problem to initiate the Linux in notebooks, I had that to configure menu.lst joined in /boot/grub/menu.lst. I used kedit as text publisher. Notebook of the Acer accepted all the Linux that I installed, thus initiating boot automatically. I want to leave well clearly that this tip is an alert one for who desires to place Linux in notebooks of Intelbras or HP. I bought one notebook of the Intelbras and the Ubuntu not accepted resolution of 1024x768 and effect of the area of work because of the shared plate of video of the SiS (Silicone Integrated System).

I need that kernel has accepted the plate of video of the SiS (Silicone Integrated System) so that I can place resolution of 1024x768, and so that the system can initiate automatically. In case that he does not understand sends this for the programmers of kernel.

what do you mean by "does not initiate initialization"? the system hangs? the screen is black?

what BIOS bug? and how do you know it's a BIOS bug?

this is not an error message.
do you mean the Linux boot phase stops here?

I'm not clear what the error is.
