That first crash there appears to be in the memory allocator. I can't see that the NFS code can be at fault here, since it just calls kzalloc(). The first question that springs to mind is whether you can reproduce this without the proprietary nvidia module? Otherwise, I'm reassigning to the memory management folks in case they have any other ideas.

Given that this is the first one of these that I have seen/noticed and that I can't reproduce at will, and that this is my main workstation which does unfortunately have an nvidia graphics device, I'd have to say no, and not terribly likely given that the machine is pretty useless without a graphic display. > Otherwise, I'm reassigning to the memory management folks in case they have > any > other ideas. Sounds good. I'd be happy just to be told it's a known bug and duplicate of bug #?????. Maybe given the problems with both Intrepid and Jaunty's kernels, I should just "upgrade" (to use the term loosely) to Karmic's 2.6.30ish kernel. I'd prefer to let others soak test that though before I dive in. :-)
