Problem Description: * Hi i'm new here, so please excuse me if i'm completely wrong and things like this are normal. I have a NAS Intel SS4000e with custom kernel kernel and Lenny distribution. I'm getting following lines in my config and i dont know if they are harmless or life of my cat is in great danger (gonna be eaten?). Except those logs line i find out, that if i choose kernel config options: CONFIG_DMADEVICES=y # # DMA Devices # CONFIG_INTEL_IOP_ADMA=y CONFIG_DMA_ENGINE=y # # DMA Clients # CONFIG_NET_DMA=y # CONFIG_DMATEST is not set Bad things begins to occure during file transfers - messages like: ss4000 kernel: dma_cookie < 0 ss4000 kernel: dma_cookie < 0 ss4000 kernel: dma_cookie < 0 ...and after few of these network stops working. Well ping works, but when i want SSH or FTP nothing happens. Closer look showed me, that there is TCP handshake and after that this box sends just empty TCP packets (zero sized once per minute?? so i could wait forever for SSH login prompt - it does not come up nor timeout expire). It occures spontaneously. For dma_cookie and network problems - turn on mentioned DMA kernel options and heavy file transefers.
Hi, currently running 2.6.28.9 for 6 weeks and this did not occure again. It looks like problem gone with newer kernel (v2.6.28.9 was not compiled with CONFIG_INTEL_IOP_ADMA=y so "dma_cookie < 0" problem _could_ be still there).
