Latest working kernel version: 2.6.29-rc1 Earliest failing kernel version: 2.6.29-rc2 Distribution: Debian unstable / experimental Hardware Environment: Asus M51VR Laptop Software Environment: Debian unstable with xorg 7.4 / server 1.5 / gnome Problem Description: I get a kernel panic when booting on a 2.6.29-rc2 kernel with the same configuration as a previously compiled 2.6.29-rc1 kernel. The 2.6.29-rc1 boots fine but I get a kernel panic message with the 2.6.29-rc2. I'm sure you'll need more information, but I don't know how to proceed to search the cause of the issue. Steps to reproduce:
We'll need to see the panic output, please. Either: - take a photo and attach it to this report or - use netconsole (Documentation/networking/netconsole.txt) or - type it in :( Thanks.
Created attachment 19867 [details] picture of the kernel panic on a 2.6.29-rc2
I uploaded a picture of the boot screen with the kernel panic lines. Please let me know if you can clearly see the information or if you need me to type it in.
Hi, I added 2.6.29-rc3 to the kernel versions list as I get a the same kernel panic screen with this new version.
does the problem still exists in the latest git kernel, say 2.6.33-rc8?
