dmesg -s64000 from failing 2.6.18-rc5
dmesg from failing 2.6.18-rc5, not very useful, I fear.
(Turning on acpi debug seemed to produce no relevant info..)

dmidecode from target machine
dmidecode: old bios, quirky partly because of dual boot historical problems.
However, this has not changed recently and certainly not between 2.6.18-rc4 and
2.6.18.rc5.
As expected, 2.6.18 suffers from the same bug: no soft power down. Not suprisingly, 2.6.19-rc1 has the problem. Resolved: APM rather than ACPI should have been set. Apologies for the noise. Will close bug if I am permitted to do that. |
