dmesg -s64000
Please try latest base kernel.
>after sleep, it turns completely off
Could it be just video resume issue?
Just take a look at Documentation/power/video.txt
> i tried acpi,apm,swsuspend,suspend2 Please describe exactly how to reproduct the problem. It isn't clear if you are talking about suspend to RAM or suspend to disk. > 2.6.15 Did it work before 2.6.15 Does it work with 2.6.18? i'm talking about suspend to RAM and suspend to disk, none of them works on my laptop. when i entered "hibernate" in the terminal or when i chose "suspend" from the ubuntu dapper on/off-menu i've got a black screen, the half-moon (suspend-LED) was blinking for a while, and afterwards this LED dyed and only the power-LED was on. The combination Fn-F4 (hotkey for suspend on/off on ibm laptops) didn't show any reaction, so i had to hold the power-button for some seconds. the computer didn't wake up, it booted as if it was turned off before. i tried kernel 2.6.15, the ubuntu-kernel 2.6.15-26-386/686 of course, but there was no difference in putting the computer to sleep. i tried to compile a 2.6.18 and 2.6.17 kernel for some hours, but in my .config was something wrong, so it came always to kernel panics. i tried kernel 2.6.14.3 too, because of a german guy, who got a similar thinkpad like me (http://www.kaltertee.de/index.php?current=linux), but the new kernel compiled with his .config (http://www.kaltertee.de/files/.config) didn't worked on my computer. i had problems when X was booting up. i saw the mouse-pointer twice only for a second, and then X crashed down. bugme-daemon@bugzilla.kernel.org schrieb: > http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6974 > > len.brown@intel.com changed: > > What |Removed |Added > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > CC| |acpi- > | |bugzilla@lists.sourceforge.n > | |et > Status|NEW |NEEDINFO > Summary|thinpad r51e turns off after|turns off after sleep-2.6.15 > |sleep-2.6.15 |- thinpad r51e > > > > ------- Additional Comments From len.brown@intel.com 2006-08-09 23:06 ------- >> i tried acpi,apm,swsuspend,suspend2 > > Please describe exactly how to reproduct the problem. > It isn't clear if you are talking about suspend to RAM > or suspend to disk. > >> 2.6.15 > Did it work before 2.6.15 > Does it work with 2.6.18? > > > ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- > You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee. > You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Using Tomcat but need to do more? I often got bad block errors after fsck checkup. when i booted wihout the recovery-mode my computer, after wakeup from suspend-to-ram my computer ALWASY hanged on resume. afterwards fsck gave a lot of bad block errors out. suspend-to-disk (S4) seems to work, but without networking und working mouse-pointer: even when i reload ehci_hcd , ohci_hcd and usbhid, the mouse-pointer is alwasy frozen. by the way, what means that error-message? [17179582.116000] ACPI Error (evgpe-0688): No handler or method for GPE[ 0], disabling event [20060127] help is very appreciated! regards, milos bugme-daemon@bugzilla.kernel.org schrieb: > http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6974 > > > > > > ------- Additional Comments From milos.mihajlovic@hgkz.net 2006-08-10 03:26 ------- i'm talking about suspend to RAM and suspend to disk, > none of them works on my laptop. > > when i entered "hibernate" in the terminal or when i chose "suspend" from the ubuntu dapper on/off-menu i've got a black screen, the half-moon (suspend-LED) was blinking for > a while, and afterwards this LED dyed and only the power-LED was on.
