I can not reproduce this with simple IPX send/recv and 2.6.17. What is your network configuration? Also, please capture the kernel panic output with either serial port or digital camera. The problem appears on the computer which I use in my workplace. I need this computer to be stable and to run without any breaks 24h per day. It is now stable with the driver sk98lin from www.marvell.com. I am sorry, but I cannot reproduce the problem because it may cause a data loss. Created attachment 8728 [details]
IPX receive header patch
Inspection of IPX receive found this generic problem which might be
related. The IPX protocol was not checking for short packets, and if they
arrived would dereference past the socket buffer.
Since a similar patch is now in 2.6.18-rc6, I'm assuming this issue is fixed. Please reopen this bug if it's still present in kernel 2.6.18-rc6. |
