Problem Description:

Kernel oops when scaling cpu frequency. I have run this bu the powernow-k8 maintainer
and it looks like libata is involved.

The above was taken from 2.6.14, but I have also tried 2.6.15 and gotten similar results

Steps to reproduce:
 echo 1000000

Could you try 2.6.18-rc3?
Comment 5 mark 2006-08-06 06:16:23 UTC

Well this is a little tricky now, but ....

I have pulled the latest kernel from git

I have just recently updated my bios thinking it may fix the problem and all
powernow voltages seem to be set to 1500. Prior to the bios update it went
down to 1 Ghz at 1200 mv. I wonder if this may be a problem with my board.

However I have some code which can force the voltage to 1200 which combined
with cpufreq I can manually set one cpu to 1Ghz 1200 mv at which pooint I still
get the lock up. I don't currently have a serial console to easilly pull of
the oops, but the symptoms seem the same
