Problem Description: I am trying to setup a network with a variety of clients 
using NFS root filesystems.  Although the kernel supports IP autoconfiguration 
via DHCP and PCMCIA, on 2.4.27 it doesn't load the drivers for the PCMCIA cards 
until after it attempts to request an IP address.  Under 2.6.8.1, it loads the 
PCMCIA and procedes to request an IP address, then panics that it can't find a 
root.  I was unable to see if it loaded the drivers for the cards.  

This is not a high priority issue for me, but it would be nice if I was able to 
use these older machines.  Thank you for your time, and if it isn't fixable or 
too much work to fix, don't worry about it.

This bug appears to have gotten stuck in the system.
The whole PCMCIA subsystem has been reworked since this bug was submitted.
