bug seems to be fixed in kernel 2.6.33-rc3-git3, even the pm patches from http://people.freedesktop.org/~agd5f/pm/ work as expected.. |
Created attachment 24358 [details] avivo regs after virgin "modprobe radeon modeset=1" before xorg start system freeze i use the latest git xorg-radeon / libdrm / mesa versions. this is reproducible behavior on my Ati Mobility Radon 3450 (Vaio laptop): 1) When booting with radeon.modeset=1 the system freezes while starting up xorg (nothing is even logged to xorg.0.log) 2) When booting with radeon.modeset=0 xorg starts and everything works 3) when booting with radeon.modeset=0 into *text mode*, and then reloading the radeon kernelmodul with modeset=1 xorg starts without problems 4) when booting with radeon.modeset=0 into *xorg*, and then stopping xorg and reloading the radeon kernelmodul with modeset=1 the system freezes even during modprobe attached are the radeontool/avivotool regs before xorg start for version 1 and 2. unfortunately the regs between version 2 and 3 don't differ and since version 4 crashes during modprobe i cant't provide a meaningful dump either....
