Problem Description: The sound card is detected ans correctly displayed in alsamixer but no sound is played. 

Steps to reproduce:
Install a 2.6.26-rc8 kernel with 1.0.16 alsa lib and util.

Can you check whether this still happens with the latest 2.6.27-rc*?

I exchanged my laptop with a new asus model equipped with an ATI Radeon HD3470 graphic card.
I suppose it has the same soundcard integrated.
It didn't work with 2.6.26-rc* kernels, but it started to play sound with 2.6.26-rc2 and above =)

Someone with an asus A7K model should be able to confirm it easily.
