Description Matthew Schultz 2008-06-16 11:32:19 UTC
I have an HP ScanJet 5100C scanner which uses the SCSI protocol over a parallel port but the kernel does not have native support for this. Could you bring in support for the ppscsi package or just implement support for SCSI over parallel into the mainline kernel?

Patches which allow the module to insert up to 2.6.24:

do you now if there is a current/unofficial maintainer?

these seem the original authors:
http://people.redhat.com/twaugh/parport/ http://cyberelk.net/tim/parport/ppscsi.html

it`s already mentioned on http://www.linuxdriverproject.com/twiki/bin/view/Main/OutOfTreeDrivers
(good!)

if not on lkml or linux-parport ml, maybe devel@linuxdriverproject.org ( http://driverdev.linuxdriverproject.org/pipermail/devel/ ) is a good place for discussion. maybe there are some volunteers for cleaning it up and pushing that upstream.

Adding Greg in case its interesting to any of his driver merging crew

Closing as WONTFIX - essentially if you want it you need to become maintainer and updater of that code
