Product: ACPI Reporter: Chuck Ebbert (cebbert)
Component: ECAssignee: Alexey Starikovskiy (astarikovskiy)
Status: REJECTED INSUFFICIENT_DATA
Severity: normal CC: acpi-bugzilla, bunk
Priority: P1

OS: Linux

Description Chuck Ebbert 2008-02-25 14:04:03 UTC
Latest working kernel version:
2.6.23
Earliest failing kernel version:
2.6.24
Distribution:
Fedora 8

Hardware Environment:
Sony Vaio vgn-fe41z and Vaio VGN-C2M/W

Problem Description:
Udev hangs on startup. Adding "ec_intr=0" helps sometimes but not always.

Possibly caused by commit c04209a7948b95e8c52084e8595e74e9428653d3
Problem first appeared when this patch was added to the 2.6.23 Fedora kernel,
and continues in the 2.6.24 kernel where the patch was added upstream.

Is it possible to check that vanilla 2.6.24 from kernel.org fails, but reverting the c04209a7 makes problem go away?
Please provide acpidump.

Hi, Chuck
will you please try the latest kernel and see whether the problem still exists?
Now quite a lot patches are avaiable for EC driver.
It seems that there is a similar bug on the bugzilla.
